Introduction: Peanut is a type of legume that is widely consumed around the world as a nutritious and tasty snack. The following product specification outlines the key characteristics of high-quality peanuts that can be used for different applications.

Product Type: Peanuts can be classified based on their size, shape, and processing method. Some of the common types of peanuts include raw peanuts, roasted peanuts, blanched peanuts, and peanut butter.

Product Characteristics: The following are the key characteristics of high-quality peanuts:

Size: The size of peanuts is typically measured by the number of kernels per ounce. Larger peanuts generally have a better flavor and texture than smaller ones. The most common sizes are jumbo, large, medium, and small.

Flavor: Peanuts have a rich, nutty flavor that can vary depending on the variety and growing conditions. High-quality peanuts should have a fresh, clean taste without any off-flavors or rancid notes.

Texture: Peanuts should have a firm, crunchy texture with a slight chewiness. They should not be too hard or too soft.

Color: Peanuts should have a uniform, light brown color with no dark or discolored spots. The skin should be smooth and free from cracks or blemishes.

Moisture Content: The moisture content of peanuts should be between 2% and 3% to prevent spoilage and ensure a longer shelf life.

Foreign Matter: High-quality peanuts should be free from foreign matter such as stones, dirt, or other contaminants.

Packaging: Peanuts should be packaged in clean, dry containers that are free from contaminants. Common packaging options include plastic bags, vacuum-sealed pouches, and bulk containers.

Storage: Peanuts should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Proper storage conditions can help to maintain the quality and freshness of the product.

Conclusion: In summary, high-quality peanuts should have a uniform size, fresh flavor, firm texture, light brown color, low moisture content, and be free from foreign matter. Proper packaging and storage can also help to ensure that the product retains its quality and freshness over time.

Botanical Name of Peanut is Arachis Hypogaea famous by its Indian name Mongphali. The groundnut belongs to the pea and bean family and is a leguma but is considered as nut because of its high nutrition value. The groundnut is the native of South America, where it has been cultivated for several countries. Peanut is the major oilseed of India.  Peanuts Production is highly weak to rainfall deviations and display huge fluctuation between years.

The flowers are a typical peaflower in shape, 2 to 4 cm across, yellow with reddish veining. The specific name, hypogaea means "under the earth"; after pollination, the flower stalk elongates, causing it to bend until the ovary touches the ground. Continued stalk growth then pushes the ovary underground where the mature fruit develops into a legume pod, the peanut – a classical example of geocarpy. Pods are 3 to 7 cm long, normally containing 1 to 4 seeds.
